Monaco-based businessman Manfredi Lefebvre, chairman of the Heritage Group and co-chair of luxury travel company Abercrombie & Kent, has been appointed Chair-Elect of the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC). He will officially assume the role in September during the Council’s 25th Global Summit in Rome.
A Veteran Voice in Global Travel
With a career spanning over four decades in the cruise and leisure industries, Lefebvre is regarded as one of the most influential figures in global tourism. A longtime Monaco resident, he spent 20+ years as a WTTC member and is best known for transforming Silversea Cruises into a world-leading luxury cruise brand before expanding into new sectors through his investment firm, Heritage Group.
His business interests now include biotechnology, medical technologies, energy transition, real estate, IT, and premium spirits—all managed from his Monaco base.
Industry Leaders Applaud Appointment
Outgoing WTTC Chair Greg O’Hara welcomed the transition, saying:
“I am delighted to announce Manfredi Lefebvre as Chair-Elect. His experience and dedication to a sector he loves marks him out as a great future chairman.”
Lefebvre, who describes himself as the Council’s longest-serving member, said he was “filled with elation” at the opportunity to lead the organisation.
WTTC President & CEO Julia Simpson added:
“Manfredi is a powerhouse in our sector. He brings with him decades of experience, and under his stewardship I am sure we will achieve unprecedented success.”
Monaco’s Role in Shaping the Future of Tourism
From elevating luxury cruise standards to co-leading one of the world’s most prestigious travel brands, Manfredi Lefebvre has played a defining role in shaping modern tourism. As he prepares to take the helm of the WTTC, he will guide the industry through a period of dynamic growth, where travel continues to outperform global economic trends.
His appointment marks a significant milestone—not just for the WTTC, but also for Monaco’s growing influence on the global tourism stage.
