The Permanent Mission of the Principality of Monaco to the United Nations in New York participated in the 62nd session of the Commission for Social Development, which was held from February 5 to 14, 2024 on the theme of eliminating poverty.
Emphasising the promises of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Summit and in particular that of eliminating poverty and reducing inequalities, Ms. Alyson Calem-Sangiorgio, Second Secretary, spoke during the general debate to highlight education and health as priority areas for the Principality on a national and international scale.
She notably highlighted the increase in its Public Development Assistance (ODA) as well as the actions of the Monaco Humanitarian Collective in Africa. She also recalled that sport is a factor of social development and can help lift people out of poverty, a mention included by the Monegasque delegation in the resolution on the priority theme of the Commission and which has been maintained there for the last two years. .nd stereotypes, and to create economic opportunities for all, which can contribute to lift people out of poverty.
