In an exhilarating weekend of racing, Team Brady, owned by NFL legend Tom Brady, clinched the top spot in the UIM E1 World Championship standings with a stellar performance in Monaco. Pilots Sam Coleman and Emma Kimiläinen showcased exceptional skill and resilience, overcoming a challenging qualifying session to deliver under pressure during two dramatic final races.
Team Drogba, backed by football icon Didier Drogba, celebrated its first podium finish of the season by securing second place, while Rafael Nadal’s Team Rafa finished third despite starting the day in pole position. The Finals featured fierce competition among five top teams: Team Brady, Team Rafa, Team Blue Rising, Team Drogba, and Westbrook Racing.
In the first Finals race, Yousef Al-Abdulrazzaq of Team Drogba emerged victorious, finishing over 15 seconds ahead of Team Brady. Westbrook Racing, Team Blue Rising, and Team Rafa followed suit. The second Finals race saw Tom Chiappe pilot Team Rafa to a spectacular win, earning them a place on the podium for the first time since Jeddah.
Team Brady’s consistent performance across both races secured them the top podium spot. HSH Prince Albert personally presented the trophy to Brady’s winning team, marking a significant moment in the championship.
“It’s great to see the team win here in Monaco. The teamwork has been incredible – all weekend we’ve been grinding through different issues but we proved again that we can deal with any conditions,” Brady remarked in the Principality. He added, “I am so proud of Emma, Sam, the whole team and the resilience that we have. I have full confidence and we’re going to keep fighting. I love our team and I love what we are doing.”
The weekend was not without its drama. Teams Aoki and Sergio Perez E1 Team received yellow cards for dangerous driving. Meanwhile, previous season leaders Team Miami powered by Magnus were eliminated in the Race Off, and Team Brazil also failed to make it to the Finals.
E1 Monaco 2024, presented by BRETT, marked the championship’s debut in Monaco, hosted by the Yacht Club de Monaco. The event drew a crowd of celebrities from sports and entertainment, adding to the excitement of the weekend.
Notably, Westbrook Racing, owned by actor Will Smith, announced a partnership with Run Blue, a global campaign addressing the water crisis. This collaboration underscores the championship’s commitment to sustainability and environmental awareness.
