This Thursday evening, the Concerts du Palais Princier will conclude their summer season with a highly anticipated performance by two emerging talents: Japanese pianist Mao Fujita and Czech conductor Petr Popelka. Fujita, a 26-year-old virtuoso who has garnered significant acclaim in Japan, will perform Dvořák’s concerto.
Although this marks his debut on the Côte d’Azur, he is already familiar to the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic, having toured with the orchestra in Japan last June. Leading the orchestra will be 37-year-old Petr Popelka, recently appointed as the director of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra.
Together, these two “new generation” artists are set to deliver a memorable finale to the summer concert series. The season began in July with a standout performance by pianist Alexandre Kantorow, who later gained international attention during the Olympic Games opening ceremony in Paris. Now, as the season draws to a close, Fujita and Popelka will ensure it ends on a high note, showcasing their exceptional talents.
