HSH Prince Albert, a dedicated sports enthusiast, shared his thoughts on the Paris 2024 Olympic Games in an interview with Monaco Info. Attending a variety of events, including athletics, basketball, volleyball, judo, and swimming, the Prince commended the Games as they neared their conclusion.
“These are very beautiful Games,” Prince Albert noted, acknowledging initial apprehensions but celebrating the event’s ultimate success. He emphasized the “extraordinary state of mind” and “incredible enthusiasm” of the public, which he believes will invigorate both French sports and the wider Olympic movement.
Reflecting on the Monegasque delegation, which consisted of three female and three male athletes, the Prince expressed a desire for slightly better results but emphasized that winning medals was not the primary goal. “The Olympic Games are a competition apart, a festival of sport, and of course, it goes well beyond that,” he stated.
While Monaco’s athletes did not secure any medals, Prince Albert voiced his pride in their performance, stating, “They did honour to the Principality.”
