Plymouth Argyle have confirmed the loan signing of Burnley striker Michael Obafemi for the remainder of the season. The 24-year-old forward, who joined Burnley permanently last summer, has had limited game time, making just two appearances for the Turf Moor side.
Obafemi began his career in the Premier League with Southampton and has struggled to secure regular first-team football in recent years. He spent the latter part of last season on loan at Millwall and now looks set to make his Argyle debut in their upcoming match against QPR this Saturday.
Argyle manager Wayne Rooney expressed his satisfaction with the acquisition, stating, “He fits the profile of player I want as part of the squad and complements the style of play we are looking to implement.”
The Republic of Ireland international has earned 12 caps and scored twice in the UEFA Nations League in 2022. This move represents a significant opportunity for Obafemi to showcase his abilities and contribute to Argyle’s campaign.
