Eric Arella to Succeed Richard Marangoni as Head of Monaco Police
On September 9, Eric Arella will assume the position of Controller in Charge of Monaco’s Department of Public Safety, succeeding Richard Marangoni, who has served in this capacity for the past eight years. Marangoni will transition to the role of Special Advisor to the Minister of the Interior.
Arella is highly qualified for the position, with a distinguished career in law enforcement that began at age 23 when he was appointed police commissioner. Over his 37-year career, he has held significant positions, including Regional Director of the Criminal Investigation Department of Ajaccio, Director of the Regional Judicial Police Service in Marseille, and Area Director of the Southern Judicial Police. His extensive experience and collaboration with the Department of Public Security uniquely qualify him to further enhance Monaco’s security and quality of life.
Marangoni, who became the director of Sûreté Publique in February 2016, has been instrumental in advancing the institution’s structure and methods. His contributions to human resources and adaptability to evolving crime and environmental challenges have been significant. In his new advisory role, Marangoni will continue to offer his expertise. Arella’s appointment marks a promising new chapter for Monaco’s public safety, with expectations for continued progress and improvements under his leadership.
