AS Monaco secured their first win of the pre-season with a convincing 3-1 victory over Feyenoord in Rotterdam, highlighted by new recruit George Ilenikhena’s first goal for the club.
The Red and Whites dominated from the start, with coach Adi Hütter deploying a 3-4-1-2 formation that featured the returns of Guillermo Maripán and Folarin Balogun. Ilenikhena, making his debut, opened the scoring in the 25th minute with a left-footed strike, assisted by his attacking partner. Monaco continued to press, nearly doubling their lead before Luka Ivanusec equalised for Feyenoord in the 39th minute.
In the second half, Monaco regained control. Maripán headed in a corner from Ismail Jakobs to make it 2-1 in the 51st minute, before assisting Mohammed Salisu, whose shot hit the crossbar and went in, securing the 3-1 lead in the 67th minute. The game also saw pre-season debuts for Denis Zakaria and Breel Embolo.
Monaco’s next match is on Sunday, August 4, against Serie A side Genoa at the Performance Center.
